Zeck and Ania looked at the boy. Zeck gritted his teeth as he shouted out. " Eagle if you damn hear me then f***ing get here! "

Zeck's eagle looked up from a fallen zombie on a roof when he heard his master's try. He swallowed the zombies flesh then soared up. He let out a huge squark as he dived near his master. Zeck pointed to the zombies by the boy. " Distract! " he yelled. His eagle turned sharply and started swooping at the heads of some of the zombies, barly scratching their heads. Some zombies took the distraction and lazily swung their arms to catch the eagle.
Zeck ran forward through a gap in the horde and grabbed the boy's arm, his claws digging in slightly to the boy's flesh. He then tugged the boy away but the gap was filled quickly by zombies. Ania ran forward, knocking some zombie heads off or just making some zombies fall down, creating a new exit. Zeck ran towards it, not losing his grip on the boy's arm.

With a slightly weirded-out expression, Sage agreed to his term. "Yeah, sure. Not problem." she said, then watched him walk past her and sit back down on the floor. She let out a small huff and looked around for a place to sit, but nothing looks clean enough. She walked around a bit, but not venturing far from the only source of light, that sat in the kitchen. Finally, after a few seconds, she decided to just sit in the kitchen doorway, her back against the frame and her hands around her knees.
"Do you want some peaches?"
The questions took her off guard. Didn't he just tell her to leave him alone? Maybe he wasn't talking to her. 'Okay, that's even creepier' she thought. Sage turned towards him and watched him try to open the can again. "Are you sure?" she asked. Of course, she would have jumped on the opportunity if this were a normal day, but this wasn't a normal day, normal days were over. This was Zombie times, so food was scarce, water was dirty, and friends were deadly. So she didn't want to seem eager.

Amelia watched as the girl and offered a smile. It had been a while since she had been around anyone other than Sebastian. And, as much as she cared for Sebastian, he wasnt much of a happy and smile kind of guy. Yes, he could be happy, but it didnt often show on his face, even before the zombie apocalypse. He was a rather serious guy, but that was one of the things Amelia liked about him. Even through the toughest things, he was always calm and serious.

She caught the motion of the girl pinching herself out of the corner of her eye. She couldnt understand why she would do that. It confused her, to say the least. All the same, she stepped away from the box and allowed her to dig through it to find whatever kind of shoe she desired. She and Sebastian had worked quickly in the dead of night to try to gather most of their supplies. When the world first turned on its head, there were still plenty of other people to be zombie bait, after all.

She nodded again to the girls choice when she saw the green and black shoes. Sneakers were a good choice for running and anything else. While sneakers werent always the most attractive option, they were often the best option when it came to survival, especially in an urban environment.

Once the girl was clothed in something more suitable than the puffy blue dress, she let her mind wander to Sebastian again. What was taking the boy so long?

---

Sebastian tensed when he heard the sound of the door being picked. It was a distinctive sound to hear the scratching before the bolt moved. He shifted himself into the shadows, making sure his medical bag was out of the way as well. He had tried to help the girl, but it apparently hadnt worked out in his favor. She was patched up on the outside, but the coloring in her chest and neck had revealed that she had bled out internally.

He listened as she raced up the steps and kept out of view. He didnt know who was entering the house and he wasnt going to be a victim. He removed his sai from their hiding place, one in each hand, gripped ready to defend himself. He watched as she moved around, not really noticing him. Apparently she was going to try to save the dead girl.

He moved as quietly as he could to shoulder his bag without putting away both sai. He had to put away one in order to use his hand, but he still left one out ready to defend himself should things go sideways. Rather than sticking around to figure out what she would do when she realized the girl was dead, he headed out the door and race down the stairs, trying to make his escape. He never heard her offer him the water.

Jace wanted to share but he knew how rare it was to actually find canned fruit. It was still good no were close to its expiration date but in a year or so people would have to start growing food and hunting to keep the world going. He hoped he would be dead by then. He didn't want to see the world fall back into the old ages. Without electricity everyone would have to start reading again to find information. The internet doesn't work so all that information is gone. The world would have to find a new way to communicate with each other and then there's politics.

Jace shook his head. It had been a long day and he hasn't slept in awhile. he knew he was suffering from sleep deprivation and he wouldn't be bale to go on much longer. It was just luck that this girl came by when she did. He knew he needed someone else to help watch the house and she looked like she could handle her own. She lived this long by herself.

Jace looked ta her and gave her the best smile he could manage. "Yeah I'm sure." He said and finished pulling the lid off. There was utensils they could use in the cabinet. He stood up carefully so he wouldn't spill any of the precious juice and set the stuff on the counter. He started rummaging through the cabinets quietly and found two bowls and two forks. They were old and he didn't know if they were clean or not but he guessed it didn't matter.

He evenly split the can in half and walked towards her. He handed her the bowl and sat down on the other side of her. "So do you know how all of this happened?"

Avia was so happy she immediately sat down and started putting the shoes on. She was definitely right about the shoes being to big but she didn't want to be to picky. She couldn't wait to test these babies out. She tied the shoes in perfect bunny knot and stood up with a bounce. She did a few spins and gave the girl another smile.

The shoes were perfect for her. It matched the grass and shadows so they would blend in. In fact her whole outfit would blend in really well. She didn't noticed till she gave herself a once over. It wasn't an outfit she would go out and buy herself but it wasn't that bad looking. It didn't capture her personality but it did give her camouflage. "Whats you'r name." Avia whispered to the girl. She wanted an allie, someone she could be on a first name basis with.

She smiled warmly back to the girl, glad that she liked the shoes. They would probably go out hunting for supplies again once things settled down and Sebastian returned. They still needed to find more lumber and steel. They need to reinforce their base, and their fence, to keep zombies and looters out. They wanted to find a way to make their fortress secure enough that no one could penetrate it, allowing them to leave it unattended at times. It was a wish on a star, not likely to happen though.

She looked up when she heard the girl speak. Amelia. She whispered just as quietly. Another odd thing about living with Sebastian only, she hadnt had to introduce herself in months, even before her life went sideways. Whats yours? She may as well learn the other girls name at the same time. She could only imagine what Sebastian would say about them introducing each other and playing nice. It wasnt secure. It could be a trap. She could be just trying to earn their trust so she could stab them in the back. All the same, she wasnt Sebastian and she would offer a bit of trust to the girl they were already clothing.

She frowned as she felt her stomach growl. Had they eaten last night? She thought they had. All the same, she was getting hungry and wasnt sure she wanted to wait until dawn to eat. She would put it off a little longer if the other girl wasnt hungry, but she was pretty sure she would be. Hungry? She asked after a moment of debating. It wouldnt hurt to offer food in addition to clothing. They had enough in storage to share at least one meal.

Sage watched him closely. This was sort of freaking her out. He had just said he was cold, right? Or maybe she was hearing things. Whatever it was, she was happy to be able to have some food again, it's been a few days since she's eaten anything worth fighting for.
She gladly took the bowl with the fork inside, having to hold her self back from just drinking the peaches down. After he had sat down, she used the fork to pick out a few good looking peaches and shoved them into her mouth as calmly as she could, barely chewing them before swallowing.
"I wish." Sage said, looking back up at him as she spoke. "But there could be a few reasons. An infection of the mind, nuclear waist, a new type of rabies . . " Sage would have went on and on if she hadn't accidentally dropped her fork into the bowl, causing a loud 'clank' to be heard through out the room. She went silent, hoping that it wasn't as loud as it seemed.

Avia smiled when Amelia spoke her name. "That's pretty." She whispers back. She was wondering when the other person who was living in this house would come back. She couldn't wait to meet him. She wondered what he would be like. He didn't look very playful. She took a wild guess and thought he was more of the serious type. She knew her thoughts were getting away from her and she pinched herself. "My name is Avia." She whispered to the girl. It was a simple name compared to Amelia and it kinda made Avia feel simple.

She was surprised when the girl offered her food. She hadn't realized it because of all the stuff that was going on around her but she was actually very hungry. She hadn't eaten in a day or so because she wanted to conserve what she had left. She knew that before she could ever get comfortable here she would have to go get her stuff from next door. It would be dangerous to try to go back over there but it wouldn't be that hard to get in the house. She never locked the door behind her because she didn't know were the key was but shelter was shelter.

Her shelter had kept the rain off of her and kept her warm. Plus living in somebody else's house supplied her with things she couldn't carry around with her like blankets and dishes. She nodded to the girl and put her hand on her stomach. She wondered what the girl would have to give. She was hoping fruit would be an option, lately she really wanted some fruit, it was sort of like an urge.

..........

Jace shoved a peach in his mouth and listened to her talk. Her stories seem like they were all based off of movies or video games. It was ridiculous that Sage could believe something so silly. "Were did you get that idea?" He asked her. She had to have some sort of reason to believe that these things could be a virus or nuclear waste or whatever. He hadn't heard anything about nuclear waste or a virus spreading around on the news before everything started happening. It could be because the government wanted to keep this a secret or maybe nobody knew, in any case it was likely that somebody would have known and the news should have spread around fast. Somebody would have been standing out on the street holding a sign saying the end of the world is coming or something.

Jace scooped up a peach and put it in his mouth he finished chewing and ate another one. He was halfway through his bowl of food when Sage dropped her fork. It made a loud clank because of how quiet that was. He hoped that nobody could hear it. Zombies had very sensitive ears and he didn't want to die for someone he just met. "Try holding you'r fork tighter." He said in a quiet whisper

"Got it." Sage whispered back, picking up her fork and holding it tighter than she was before. She took another bite after listening closely to make sure her mistake of making noise caused any unwanted attraction. With a sign, she swallowed again. "I don't know. That's just what always happened in movies, you know?" she said, turning towards the bowl to eat another peach. "I was sort of raised on stuff like that. Movies and stuff."

Avia, it sounded to her like a bird. She smiled at the thought. She liked birds, though it was becoming rarer and rarer to see them. She wasnt sure if the girls name really had anything to do with birds, but that was the first thing her mind jumped to. She didnt really have much to say about her name. Amelia always made her think of Amelia Earhart who flew the plane across the ocean. Maybe that was why she thought of birds and flying. All the same it didnt really matter. At the end of the day, it was just a name that someone used to reference themselves and to allow others to reference them.

She turned and headed downstairs when she heard the affirmation that the other girl was also hungry. She almost flew down the stairs as she raced down to the kitchen, keeping ears and eyes alert for anything out of the ordinary. She knew there wouldnt be anyone in the house with them, she would have heard them enter, but she still was cautious to anything that might be a threat. Even when she was hungry, she was alert and ready for anything to go wrong.

She stopped in the kitchen and withdrew a key to unlock the pantry. Perhaps it was a bit of an extreme to lock the door housing the food, but that was one of the most common things stolen now a days. They didnt want their stocked food to disappear in the night. It was less likely for someone to climb onto their roof to steal some of their planters, but it wouldnt surprise either Amelia or Sebastian to know that someone stole their canned supplies.

She unlocked the door and withdrew a few different cans of food they had preserved. Todays choice seemed to be vegetable soup and applesauce. Those were two of the easier things to can and didnt take a lot of effort to make. As such, they had more than enough of both to last for a while. Even so, they would eventually run out of applesauce as they didnt have any more apples. They had hoped to get a few fruit trees, but it seemed that those would be impossible to keep indoors or on the roof, and it was simply too easy to steal fruit off a tree, even behind a fence. Perhaps once they got a better fence that couldnt be penetrated they could look into fruit trees again.

Returning from inside the room that had been altered into a large walk in pantry, she came out with two large jars. Vegetable soup and applesauce, she offered, walking over to the stove to heat it up. It was a wood burning stove and it didnt need too much wood to burn in order to warm the room or a meal on the stove top. We only have water and fruit juice to drink, though. She said in her typical whisper.
