Ames shrugged. "Fair enough," she said. She leapt off the table. "Need any help?"

"No," I say, making a point of it as I shoulder my giant basket full of veggies. I walk down the road, not bothering to wait for Ames.

Ames shook her head, feeling useless. She hurriedly ran to her stall and packed everything up. She shouldered the giant bag, checked for anything she had left, and ran to catch up with Fen. "So have you seen the news?" she asked.

"Something about the leaders getting angry at each other or something, right?" I ask, not having seen the papers yet.

"I think they disappeared. All I know is work is gonna get real good for me," Ames said, grinning.

"Do you kill people, or just get them to lose their jobs?" I ask, genuinely concerned.

"It really depends," Ames said casually, shoving her hands in her pocket.

"How long have you been doing this?" I ask, hoping to learn more about this person.
