"Says us," Puck replied, getting his daggers out of his boots, Ash going over to pick the baby up

The little dragon rolled his eyes. "What do we care?"

The girls stayed mostly hidden under his wings.

The baby's eyes where glossy with tears, so he didn't see Ash. His frills and underwings where a sad blue.

Ash proceeded to ignore the bigger dragons.

"Because. You're just a big, fat bully. All of you," he said, glaring mostly at the girls

The girls just rolled their eyes.

The Nightflight huffed. "Oh yeah? What do you know about that? Maybe this is how things work."

The baby kept trying to get back onto his belly.

Ash picked the baby up

"Or maybe you guys are just rude because he's different. Because you guys can't handle something that isn't the same." Puck scoffed. "You're starting to remind me of humans."

The baby was sobbing, but understood it was Ash and started trying to ask him why the others had been mean.

The Nightlfight looked over at the darker yellow Sunspacer, who cowered back a bit at the mention of humans. "You mean the monsters mommy talks about?"

The lighter one nodded. "Those things with long sticks that can kill three dragons at a time!"

Ash didn't reply, only running a hand along the baby's wings, remembering what Jason had told him


Puck raised his head, letting them hash it out

The baby sniffled, slowly calming down.

The girls seemed scared.

The boy sighed, rolling his eyes. "My gosh, I bet that's just grown ups ways to scare us into staying at home. I bet they don't actually excits."

"But the tall thing said!" The dark yellow one protested.

Ash remained silent


"Yes! I, the tall thing, said!"

Soon the baby stopped crying.

The two girls looked at one another in fright, then the lighter one looked up at Puck. "Wait, are they real?! What do they look like?"

"Sharp teeth! And spikes in their hands!" The darker one cried out in fright.
