Tansy smiled as she led Amelia into the briar tunnel and through the door as she opened it for her. Inside, a dazzling bedroom greeted Amelia. The floor was white marble, inlaid with patterns of flowers, birds, and animals. Some of them even moved. A fountain bubbled in the middle of the room, and a small table stood nearby, covered with cakes, tea, and bottles of wine. A massive, silk-covered bed dominated one wall, while a fireplace stood at the other. The flames crackling in the hearth changed color, from green to blue to pink and back again.

"This is the guest-of-honor suite," Tansy announced, gazing around enviously. "Only important guests of the Seelie Court are allowed here. Your father really is giving you a great honor."

She nodded.
'This is nice... But I have to stay alert.' She told herself.

Tansy moved to leave the room

"Uh- I don't mean to be a bother... But is this room safe?" She asked.

Tansy nodded. "It should be. It wouldn't look very good on the Seelie Court if their guests of honor get hurt."

"Right... Thank you for bringing me here."

She nodded before leaving.

She sighed.
'This is way off track... I can't stay here...' She said to herself before going to sit on the bed.

From the bed, she could see herself in the mirror if she looked. I mean...it was still her. The reflection moved when she did. But her skin was paler, the bones of her face sharper, and her eyes seemed enormous, those of a deer caught in headlights. And through her hair, where nothing had been yesterday, two long pointed ears jutted up from both sides of her head.

She looked closely at her self then went to feel her ears to see if they were still normal.
