She gave a short nod, telling herself to just...stop feeling. She couldn't do that, and her heart had gone into overdrive, causing her face to get a little more color. "Good. We've just got to find one, then."

Vex already had a small bit of blush to his cheeks at the moment, he practically mentally strangled himself to try and stop any odd thoughts. "Okay."

She sat rigidly in the glass strewn seat, half out of stress, half out of Vexin touching her hair. It wasn't a bad thing, she just...had never imagined he would do so. After a couple of miles, they came to a sign that read, PALO DURO PARK ROAD. "Palo Duro," muttered Electa. "Wait a minute, that sounds familiar." She took the turn.

He shifted his weight to keep balanced as she turned, soon gently fixing her hair after he'd done his best to get the glass out.

Well, she had begun rambling, her emotions all over the place. "It's a canyon. A really big one. Cully told me about it; he used to come camping here. People go hiking here a lot--we might be able to find something." The narrow paved road twisted and turned for a mile or so; there was dry, open grassland to either side. Then all at once, there wasn't. The canyon came into view. It was suddenly just there, the land opening up before them into a soaring, silent expanse of depth and space and red rock. Electa's face had hardened as she looked out at it.

Vex seemed confused but nodded, looking at her in worry with how her face had hardened. He put a hand to her shoulder, trying to make her feel better.

She just glanced at him. They came to a wide curve in the road with the canyon sloping steeply away from them in a scrabble of dust and loose rock. Parked just off the side of the road was a boatlike gray Chevy, its owners presumably hiking on the dirt path that wound downward.

He looked around, teal eyes a bit curious at the new world around. He'd never left his home town, he found this place interesting.

She pulled in behind the Chevy and killed the engine. "I'll keep an eye out for cars, while you hotwire the car, okay? Be careful."

"This to the other?" he said, nodding to show he understood the for sure of the rest. He didn't feel to keen on messing with wires of someone else's car without permission but he was learning he had to get over these things.
