This was a waste of time. We already know this! Her eyes started focusing to what was happening outside as she stopped listening to what was going on around her.

Saras looked up, and said, "What if I told you, Xelius Crufex, that I could get you cleared of charges. All I ask is that you lead us to Dr. Iris. I've got a personal score to settle with her."

(His armor identified X for him based upon the radio signature.)

She stopped stroking Hexic and rested her hand on his back. A question had been tickling Basil's mind for quiet some time. She wasn't sure she wanted the answer. Perhaps she should ask not that she had a smidge of courage. "umm, excuse me Cassie, Hex, have either of you seen.. ohhhh I don't know, other humans perhaps? maybe with white hair and yellow eyes?" She seemed to tense up, but not to noticeably much. "I understand that with mad scientists and crazy murder aliens, it might be hard to spot creatures like me these days."

White hair and yellow eyes? That doesnt sound exactly human to me... But no, I havent seen anybody matching that description. She was still looking at the street, unfocused.

"I have seen other humans before. One or two. But not with that description. Sorry Basil," he gave her a sad look, feeling bad that he wasn't able to help her.

"Just how they want people too, clueless. Having information on them is a thorn in their side for sure. But kinda what the Daarizi Inspectors specialize in, having information on everyone whether they want it to happen or not." He chuckled and leaned back in his chair, propping his chin up with a hand.

"So Umbra's a bit of an oddball. Word goes he's the last one of his kind. Almost got some camedierie with him since we're both from dead planets and telepathic. 'cept we Daarizi terraformed ours while we still could and the only 'telepathy' we got goin' is with each other through our Council network." X yawned a bit and paused, trying to get his train of thought back.

"Hold on, gettin' sidetracked. Lemme grab a beer." He got up and grabbed one from his fridge, turning around to face Saras as he opened it with a hiss.
"Doubt you're goin' to get any charges cleared with the army since they're the ones saying I'm sabotagin' their war. They can frame it however they want, but they sure ain't keepin' the peace. I'll keep doin' it too. If you got a personal score with the Doc, might see what I can do, but I don't want to take the chance of putting you all in danger with me hangin' around."

Were already in enough danger... she mumbled. Escaping a base, they probably already had a bounty on their heads. If not Umbra wanted to find them himself.

Hexic was listening, but he didn't exactly care too much for what was being said. He rolled over and stretched out on Basil's lap.

Saras used his wrist laser to produce a projected image of the warrant, which was worth ten grand.
"Now, what if I told you the doctor is worth a thousand times that, and Umbra himself is worth a thousand times that. If you help me bring in Doc Iris, they'll almost certainly drop the charges. Else, I will buy your freedom, whatever it takes to ensure you get released. Besides, the Protectors are getting somewhat corrupt. I can pull a few strings and get your name cleared. Or I will literally eat my own armor."
