Jack leaned his head back.

Kiara came in, talking to someone who comes in behind her. "I wouldn't understand why our town is popular all of a sudden, but I'm not one to argue."
"I would. New people scare me. And less than five people doesn't make this place popular. Didn't you say they were staying for just one night?" The one Kiara was talking to closed the door behind them.
"Perhaps." Kiara turned her attention to Ray and Jack. "Hi guys! Wanna help with making dinner? Oh, yeah! Ray, Jack, meet Scarab. Scarab, meet Ray and Jack."
"Nice to meet you." Scarab says politely, though they looked at their hands when they said it.
"Hi Scarab. What's up?" Ray chirps cheerfully.
Scarab looked up at Ray and smiled, "The sky." Ray chuckles and gets to their feet.
"That one's Ray. The other's Jack." Kiara informed Scarab. Scarab nods a thanks to her before heading with her to the kitchen to start helping.

Jack smiled and stood up to greet them.

"I bet you'll become best friends!" Kiara says on the topic of her friends - Jack, Ray, and Scarab - becoming friends.
"Didn't I just say I don't like meeting new people?" Scarab mutters. They suck in a breath, suddenly afraid they had offended someone, "It's not your guys' fault. I just don't trust people as easily as Kiara does."
"I don't know if the reason Scarab doesn't trust people easily is because of a past experience or the fact that they're blind-" Kiara cuts herself off with a small 'sorry'. Scarab shakes their head and sighs. Kiara and Ray might get along nicely - they could talk on and on to each other.

Jack understood. "That's alright, I wouldn't blame anyone no matter of what reason.''

Kiara smiles and starts verbally handing out things people can do to help prepare for dinner. Scarab nods in understanding when they get their task and heads to do it.
"Aye aye!" Ray chirps, heading to do their task.

Jack thanked her and went to his own duty.

Kiara nods as she washes and cuts the tomatoes and carrots. Ray and her were having quite the conversation, the words never seeming to stop though they never interrupted each other.
Scarab was quietly doing the work they were assigned to, occasionally putting in a word or two, but mostly keeping to themself.

Jack himself did as he was supposed to, though he stayed silent.

The work seemed to go by a lot faster to Ray thanks to the whole talking nonstop thing.
Scarab gave up trying to keep with the conversation and simply listened, doing their job as well as anyone.
