Jason grimaced, an arm trying to curl around his torso to keep anyone away from the gash. His breathing was slow and shallow.

The baby sqeaked to Jason, golden eyes innocent and clueless.

Jason leaned back on his arms a bit, staring at his gash. "Dang..."

Ash just set his jaw as he began to stitch Jason's wound, convinced this wouldn't have happened if he would've just let them help

Well, he had it partially right. But he still would've gotten hurt in maybe worse ways. And Shade would still be... Well, Shade. Now he was just a baby. An innocent, sweet baby.
