Kai had picked up a scent, the scent of food. She was walking toward the kitchen.

"Deal." Selkie went outside to get Kaladin, "I feel awful sorry for Locke."
Kai picked up the pace into the dinning room which had plates on the table. The chef uncovered a plate of turkey and Kai was drooling.

Kai either wasn't listening to Locke or didn't hear him.
The chef noticed her as soon as she jumped. The chef took the turkey off the table. Kai slid off the table on the other end taking everything with her. The crash could be heard outside.
