Later that night...

This was probably the fifth time Knuckles had bolted awake now. He stood up, paced a bit, and flopped down again and groaned. The same old drill. He looked at the other two. He had to admit he was rather surprised Rouge was asleep at this hour, though Gadget... well, he was sleeping like the wolf pup he was. Knuckles sighed. He curled up once more, but knew sleep was a long time coming.

She shifted in her sleep

The next morning....

Gadget was the first one awake. He breathed in the crisp morning air and shook the dew off his pelt. He ran off to get some wood to start a fire.

Rouge stretched out her wings, still asleep

Gadget hauled back a small bundle of branches and set them up on the ground. He casually cocked Burst, aimed, and set the wood aflame. "Yep. That looks good." He said, sitting down as he waited for the others to wake up.

Rouge awoke to the sound of fire

Gadget waved to her. "Mornin'!" He greeted with a bright smile.

Nnn, she said. Her eyeliner was quite messed up.

(Now I really want to draw rouge just waking up)

(I did actually draw one of Knux waking up once... of course it came out perfectly on line paper....:l)

"Come have a seat," Gadget invited, tilting his head a bit.

She nodded, sitting down with the enthusiasm of a pet rock
