He calmly flicks his tail. "You incapacitate a basilisk by grabbing them by the tip of their tail. So long as you're not touching the barb, they cannot sting you, and their tails don't have enough strength to lift them up to claw or bite. It also disorients them too much to accurately freeze you."

The trainer vanishes via his glamour, leaving the basilisk seemingly the only one on the ground. Then her chains unlock, freeing her claws, fangs, and lethal tail.
