"Yes! Okay? I know that!" She snapped. "I'm not used to being treated kindly. Especially not by angels. Usually, all they want to do is suck my life force away until I have a massive heart attack and die. "

" I am not an angel.. and I get sick from taking life force as you saw.. Just because you aren't used to kindness doesn't mean you shouldn't be prepared to accept it. "

"That might be true, but I obviously wasn't prepared at all to receive any kindness. And, I'm still baffled as to how you're here right now! Angels are creatures of energy. They can't breed. And then all of a sudden there's a hybrid and it's just...I'm just stressed. That's all."

" Some of them were different.. like my mom. I bet you guys knew that though. "

"I don't believe that I ever met your mom. And I've always been taught that all angels are the same: monstrous, health sucking, disease ridden gut worms," she sneered. Then she said, " but you're nothing like that."

" You're right, you probably didn't know her.. She was killed when I was 7. " Alister stated solemnly, ignoring her comment.

"When I was seven, the CIA hadn't stuck their ugly mugs into the AKs business and me, Cully, Jake and Olivia would go out on stake outs. Back then, it might take days to find an angel. Maybe even weeks. We would trail them until we had a chance to kill them. When they spotted you, oh man, you were in trouble unless you escaped or killed it. Back then, my momma would go travel the world, gathering information on the creatures that killed papa...But that was back then."

" At least your parents stuck around.. When my mom was killed, my dad abandoned me and I went into foster home after foster home.. '

"Why didn't you just escape and live on your own?" she asked.

" I tried to escape, many times. They always would find me and always would drag me back to whoever I was with at the moment.. and the punishments for running off didn't help. "
