D shook herself a moment, feeling better without the leash, and dashed after Kate.
The man soon got up, but pointed a gun to Lukes' head before he could do anything. "Welp, looks like we were right about you. But guess firing you didn't keep anyone safe." He pointed to his bleeding neck.
Luke was frozen under him. "....Please...d-don't pull i-"
A loud bang cut him off.

D completely stopped, turning to face where Luke was.
The man sat back, sighed, then got up off of Luke's lifeless body. He kicked it before he turned to aim over towards the girls.

Kate pulled D to the car, shoving her into the passenger seat and then hopping into the driver's, trying to get away quickly.

D didn't fight, yanking the door shut. But she seemed a little ... numbed as she slowly realized there was no such thing as Luke anymore.
The man aimed for their tires, but the care was built for speed despite its size.

Luke had left the gear shift a certain way so they zoomed off just in time to miss the bullets that the man tried to fire at them.
