The darts would take effect right away.
D looked to Kate in fear before she conked out, going limp to the ground suddenly. Her wings sprawled and tail at a weird angle.
Saph felt the prick of the dart and warbled as it woke her. She barely warbled a thing before she went to sleep again due to the toxin in the dart.

The dart wouldn't last too long, but not a short while.
...
The people proceded to tie D up and drag her to a white van. Some attempted to go for Saph but oddly Luke was quickly there, shooting against them until they ended up jumping in the van and driving away. But he still tried to shoot their tires, with no success.

Luke struggled to jog over to her, taking the dart out and shaking her. "Hey! Hey, wake up! Darn it, they where silver status, of course it had to be those darts! Why not, it's D. She could do so much damage if she woke early."
