"Not anymore?" She prompted, curious.

Taylor reached for her pockets to find the folded up map. They were empty. It must've fallen out some point during the walk, but the trail wasn't anywhere in sight either. To keep the others from panicking, she quickly said, "Nothing at all! Everything's fine..."

"Nope. Not anymore." She would need to pry a little more than that if she wanted to find anything else out.

Both boys were skeptical but decided to be nice and not comment.

She shrugged, still looking out the window as they reached somewhere that seemed to be the higher part of the mountain. "Wait, stop here. The sun should be setting soon, and the view's nice. We can watch from the car?"

"Okay, funny story..." Taylor began, fishing through her bag to grab her flashlight. Rylan gave her an odd look, but she continued on. "... I lost the map. And we're no longer on the trail."

"Yeah, sure. Maybe we should try climbing a tree with your car, see if it works. If it does, we'll get a great view. If not...well, your car will be in not very good shape," he said, pulling over.

"Oh. If it's so funny, I guess I just forgot to laugh," Jack muttered. "So now we have no clue where we're at or where we're going. That's just peachy," he said, throwing his arms up.

Victoria tensed, not liking anything about the idea of being lost. In the dark. In an unfamiliar area. With wild animals around.

"I'm not climbing a tree," she argued. "I don't want to fall a break my legs. Besides, the car's a convertible. We can just watch from inside. You just gotta park backwards, and we'll watch from the seats!"

"We'll figure it out!" Taylor snapped, though she looked uncertain. "The sun's not down... yet."

"And I thought Izzy was going to get into more trouble than us," Rylan muttered, rubbing his face.

"Okay, okay! I was kidding. Goodness." He parked backwards like she told him to. "You afraid of heights or something?"

"Okay, well we should best get building a fire at least. That way, we can ward off most of the animals and keep warm and have light," Oliver pointed out.
Jack rolled his eyes

Victoria only wondered who 'Izzy' was and why she would get into more trouble

She laughed, and opened the convertible hood. When it was all the way down, she swung her legs over the seat to sit on the top part of the two seats in the back. "No, I'm afraid of breaking my legs and not being able to lead my team in cheer for the rest of the year."

"See? Oliver's being helpful." Taylor gave Jack a pointed look, but she sounded more than guilty. "But I'm sorry about this- I'm sure we'll find our way back... I might check out the area to see if I can find where I dropped the map, and collect firewood too. Anyone want to come with me?"

Rylan shrugged, but his eyes stayed wary and fixed on the darkening sky. "Doubt you'll find it. I'm staying here anyway, don't want to get more lost."

"You won't break your legs if you aren't a clutz and don't fall," he said, moving to join her. "And if you're such a great cheerleader, I'm sure you could flip your way up there and back down."

"I don't think you'll find the map, either. Plus, you might just get more lost and then eaten by a bear," Oliver said flatly. Victoria nodded to agree with Rylan and her brother.

Jack only shook his head. "You're all crazy. We're not going to be helpful if we don't go out and get wood."

"I'm not risking it," She replied, tilting her head back so she could catch the breeze that was flowing by. "And flips aren't that easy."

"Okay, I'm not going to get eaten by a bear." She sounded more like she was trying to convince herself rather than trying to convince them. "But we still need to collect firewood. That's why I need someone to come with me."

He gasped. "What? What would the rest of the cheer team say if they heard you say that?" He asked, joking around again

"I will," Jack said, overdramatically, flinging an arm over his eyes. "I offer myself as sacrifice."
