Ayah comes in holding a tray of bread and milk. The food has potent tranquilizers in it. When you eat, youll be knocked out and youll appear dead. I can take you out of this place. She whispers as she sets the tray down in front of you. Trust me.

Orion grips your arm, clearly scared. You sure this is a good idea? He whimpers. A form emerges from the cave. In one hand it holds a cage full of gryphon cubs. In the other, a leash tied to a huge mama gryphon. Sorry, youre too late! It cackles. As it approaches you can tell that it has a translucent chest, showing off a grey heart. Spikes protrude from its forehead. A wanted sign showing a gryphon family is impaled on one.

I hesitate, not sure I want to appear dead or eat food with tranquilizers. I turn to my Sylesti. "What about Mahu?" I ask in a whisper, wondering what should happen to my furry friend.

"A poacher. Evil beings. Using beautiful animals to get profit." She took out her knife and ran toward the poacher, or more accurate, the mother gryphon. (If she scares the poacher she cuts the mother gryphon's leash. If not well... have fun with that.)

The poacher, scared, backed up against a tree. He dropped the leash and gave you time to cut it. The gryphon reared up on her hindlegs as soon as her leash was cut. She dropped onto her front paws and slowly approached you. She rubs her head against your leg, like a large housecat, and licked your hand. Then, she turned and snarled at the poacher. You look away as she mauls him. A voice speaks inside your head. "You have done my family a great service. We will be your allies if you need us." Somehow you know that was the gryphon. "To leave this realm, you must follow the unkempt trail. It will take you to the doors. Good luck, brave traveler." Orion is nowhere to be seen.

Ayah leans in and whispers, "I have a companion who will take her to where I am taking you. I know you have no reason to, but you need to trust me. You and... one other.... are prophesized. You will escape the realms and defeat the bane of existence. I've said too much but you must play dead, now."

"Thank you, gryphon." She smiled and the mumbled, "I knew I shouldn't have let him out of that forest." She took off down the trail.

You eventually stumble upon a terrified-looking Orion curled behind a log. He takes one look at you before jumping up and hugging you. "YOU'RE NOT DEAD! I assumed that with all the mauling, screaming sounds she was attacking you! How'd you evade her?"

She pulled away. "I didn't attack her, duh. I pretended to attack the poacher to scare them, then cut her leash. The poacher was mauled. All in all, the gryphons are now my allies and I still don't trust you."

He stopped hugging you and stepped back. Seriously?! I mean, its really cool what you did but WHY DO YOU NOT TRUST ME STILL?! Before you can respond something rustles in the leaves in front of you.
