Kate looked at the surveillance.

D quickly gave the tablet to her and scuttled on her talons quickly,and clumsily,toward the right door and shoved her hands to the button and close the door as Foxy came into view. He banged on the door with his hook and....was that the sound...of his head?

Kate's breathing quickly changed from regular to hyperventilating.

D backed away from the door,thankfully it stayed closed,and she came over to Kate and wrapped her wings around her as if a safety net. "Okay...little time left...okay...you okay." Her voice was steady but inside she felt like sobbing and dying.

That's almost exactly how Kate felt. She was not getting paid enough for this. She attempted to take deep breaths, but that caused her to forget how to breathe.

D felt the difficulty in Kate's breathing and gently put a hand in front of the two,then gently clicked her teeth to light soft sparks that lit a small purple flame. She held it in the palm of her hand and showed it to Kate to calm her. "Name? D-H-3..not catch your name."

She was stunned for a minute. When she could speak, she breathed, "Kate. It's Kate." She stared at the purple fire, amazed.

D smiled softly,swishing her tail up and besides the flame,making the soft swirl of light dance happily. "Pretty name....flame good...Kate can touch..."

She reached out to touch the flame, hesitating before touching it, as all fire she knew burned skin.

The fire was soft and gentle,warm. Soft like satin and warm like a fresh bun from the oven at a bakery. The smell wasn't ashy rather...sweet,like roses and berries.
