He still can take damage, it's basically reanimation. He can't do OP things, he's mortal. The spirit can't survive without a host anymore. If the host dies, the spirit dies as well. Is that better? If not, then OK.

I'm just saying, he can't take over other characters. That's all.

Oh, he can't full on steal a character's body. The worst thing he can do to another character besides damage is giving hallucinations. He cannot possess other characters, as the spirit is too weak from all those years searching.
