Selene sat there in silence, just staring down at Crystals limp body. She wasnt sure what to do. She now had a kid, and needed to get back to her. She would never be able to survive on her own. Selene didnt want to leave Crystal, though, to this terrible fate. She let magic pool within her soul as she glowed brighter and brighter.

Crystals body was lifted up, and she transformed into her dragon form. She leaned heavily on one side and her eyes lit up, as if something gave her a new surge of strength. She looked up at the shadow demon, growing bigger and bigger with each pulse of magic, absorbing it and converting it. He grinned and swooped down onto Selene. Crystal quickly grasped Selene with her talons, turned on a dime, and shot straight up into the sky. She held Selene close to her underbelly, keeping her warm and safe, as the air got colder. Finally, she spread her wings and sped away from the creature, until it was out of sight.

Shadow demons may be terrifyingly fast, it if I put my mind to it, I can be faster. Direct me human. Direct me towards your dwelling.
Crystal rumbled, deep in her throat.

For the record, Im not a human, but see that park over there? Thats where I live.
Selene pointed over at a clump of trees about ten blocks away.
Another question; where did that power come from? You must have pulled it from somewhere.
She flicked her ears back, streamlining them against the wind.

You may not be human, but you are still mortal. To answer your question, mortal, it came from my dragon half. My soul is half caster, half dragon.
The voice replied.
She turned easily in the air. Once she was pointed in the right direction, Crystal did a barrel roll, as she was tucking her wings in. She became a streamlined bullet, streaking towards the clump of trees. When she got close, she suddenly spread her wings, let go of Selene with her back legs, but regrasped her with her front. Her hind legs landed unnaturally softly infront of the vehicle.Crystal set Selene down carefully, and slumped to the ground. Her dragon strength was fading, but strangely, she couldnt get ahold of her human half. Crystal blacked out. She grew smaller, and smaller, until she became a dog sized hatchling.

Selene wobbled on her feet for a moment, dizzy from the barrel roll. She picked Crystal up, easily now that she was a hatchling, and carried her into the den. She set her down in the nest next to Molly and Champagne, and slumped against the wall, letting out a sigh as she could finally relax for a moment. She stuck the gun back in the wall, placing her safe bag next to her books and curling up around the two figures, shielding them with her feathery tail.

The hatchling has the little bandages on its arm, and are starting to bleed through. She shivers, and shifts a bit.
