Maia let out a cry of surprise and fear when the bat plucked them. She struggled, but could not escape. She was not convinced at all that the woman was saying the truth. The word 'protection' seemed to have a strange meaning for her.
"Let us go, please! We don't even know how we came here!"

The woman gave a start, pulling at the bat and almost making it drop them. "You don't know?" Upon reaching the city, the bay dropped them gently, and the three guards jumped down, holding off a crowd of well dressed.... Albino??? People who had realized what happened.

Maia had to hold back crying. She was afraid, and she tought the bat would drop them a few time. She both wanted to look at the intriguing landscape, and to close her eyes to not see how high she was.
She was surprised and calmed down when she was dropped gently. She was surprised by the crowd staring at them. What do they wanted from them? Maybe these guards were not bad after all.
She wondered if all people living here were albinos. Maybe it was because they lived undeground, and did not see the sun often?

She had not really be able to speak when the bat was carrying her, and she finally answered the question.
"Yes, I don't know how I came; I felt something weird , like an earthquake, and I fell in a hole. When I opened my eyes I was here. What is this place?"
