"Ah, but you see, you have been nice, and they were not, and you aren't stealing those behind my back, you are taking them off of a sample plate. Very different, I assure you."

"Hmm, but this is my second one from your sample plate," Ames said. "And if you're not careful I might take a third," she added.

I ever-so-daintily pick up the plate, and taking a knife, cut up a squash, and put the pieces on top of the honeysuckle.
"The samples were getting a bit old," I explain, with a mischevious glint in my eye.

"OY!" Ames yells, lunging across the stand to reach the honeysuckles before they were tainted, but she's too late. "So this is how Caesar felt when Brutus stabbed him," she sighed dramtically, lying across the counter dejectedly.

"Who's laughing now?" I ask, a smirk on my face.
"It's getting pretty late, do you have a place to stay at?" I ask, noting the setting sun.

The guy stared at the shop keeper, he slowly pulled his coins back and reached out to grab a newspaper without paying. As soon as his hands touched it and grabbed onto the flimsy paper, he ran.

"Eh, I was just gonna sleep under the cart," she said. "Hotels are overpriced," she huffed. She made another half-hearted grab for the honeysuckle squash.

I lightly slap Ames' hand away from my fruit and say,
"You could- ya'know, crash at my house for a while. I have plenty of extra room since the 'incident'."

Ames pouted, eyeing the honeysuckle longingly. "Are you sure? I could pay you rent or whatever," Ames offered.

"I don't really need the money, my family left behind a giant inheritance. I insist on it being free." I say, hoping not to have another lonely night.
