Orion finally managed to pop the lid off and dump out the note. Meanwhile, the bird perched on his arm, posing. "This bird has always had an attitude, and my sister just had to teach to understand English," Orion said as he read the note. He smiled. Dear Orion, I know it's only the first day of school, but I hope it's going well! Guess what happened right after you left? I finally finished that sword, and the man I made it for loved it so much that he said he'd tell his friends about me! I'm gonna get some more business. But enough about me. Tell me how it went! Oh, and there's something you left behind on the bird's other leg. Write back, Artemis. Orion read. "Yes! Way to go sis!" he yelled when he reached the part about the man and the sword. He folded the letter, and put it in his shirt pocket. Then he checked the bird's other leg. It grudgingly allowed him to untie the string around it's leg. On the string was half of the conch shell they had found at the beach. He smiled and placed it to his ear.
( Oh Geez, even Thor's hammer didn't work?! Thor's gonna be pretty mad!)

Jora smiled she liked it when Orion was this excited." What happened?" She asked as she lifted a finger to stroke the birds head.

(Com bout to die sorry it sucks!)

"My sister is finally getting the blacksmithing customers she deserves," Orion says as he tucks the shell into the pocket with his note. He placed moved the bird to a nearby branch, so Jora could continue to draw. He was glad she wasn't miserable anymore. Or at least she didn't look miserable. He grabbed a page from his sketch book and began writing. Dear Artemis, That's awesome! I'm so happy for you! I'm doing fine. I already made a friend. (Yes, I know I lost the bet, no rubbing it in.) Orion smiled as he imagined his sisters laugh when she read that part. I think you would really like her. You should come over this weekend so you can meet her. She's a really good artist. And she wants to learn to swim. SInce you taught me, I'm sure you could help me teach her. Love, Orion. He looked over at the hawk, and decided not to disturb it so she could finish the drawing.

(It's good, especially since it was rushed! The only reason mine are so long is because of the notes.)

Jora was just finishing up when she could tell Orion was finished. She stood up and stroked the hawks head carefully. "Good job. I'm all done now." She remembered something. She ran back over to where she had left her lunch. She came back smiling. "I bet you like fish sticks, too." She looked over at Orion. "Do you think it would be okay to give him some of my lunch? I didn't finish it." She asked knowing it might not be the best thing for the bird.

"Of course! We always snuck him some of our food to him. He loves it. His name's Hayabusa." Orion replied. "He rarely sits still for anyone that long. He must like you," Orion said. P.S. Hayabusa loves my friend. He added to the note before slipping it into the container. He slipped a bookmark that he had made from leather a while ago, and slipped it into the container with the note. They always exchanged little gifts when they wrote to each other. He tied the container to Hayabusa's leg.

(F.Y.I.: Hayabusa was a space probe that landed on a comet. Hayabusa means falcon.)

Jora smiled and ripped off a bit of the fish. She puts it in the crook of her thumb holding it out to the hawk. "Well it was very nice to met such a nice bird, Hayabusa." She knew her mom would just love getting to see the bird. "I bet your sister and my mom will be outside in her smithy trading secrets all day, if she comes with us." She said trailing off a bit. She wondered what the kids in her village might do to Orion. He wasn't a Phoenix but he wasn't a mutt either.

"They totally would," he said, smiling. His smile disappeared when he saw Jora's hesitance. "What's wrong?" I how the kids at her village will react when we get there.

Jora peted the birds soft feathers and gave him another piece of fish. "You probably have to get going." She said softly to the bird. She was surprised that Orion could tell she was of a little. "Wrong? Nothings wrong." She said stepping back so the Hawk could take off.

Hayabusa took off, screeching once, the sound that Orion loved so much. Orion looked at her quizzically, but said nothing. "We might want to start heading back. The bell will ring any second now," he said, glancing back toward the school. "Jora.... what do you think the kids will do to you if Artemis and I come with you?" he asked hesitantly.

Jora's gaze followed Hayabusa as he took off and flew away. She nodded still looking at the sky. She looked at him with his next question. She thought about it as she waked over to get her necklace. She slowly walked back over to him and shook her head. "I don't know... I haven't had a friend before..." She bushed a little as she walked quickly to the bluff. "Please just fly down I don't want you to fall and climbing down's trickier..." She asked as she tied her skirt up again.
