Haha!!! You flew at him at over 40 mph, snatching him and pulling him into the air. Unfortunately, your 1 FOOT TAIL can't tie him up, but it can hoist him into the air even more. You dangle him 1000 feet above the city, threatening to drop him if he doesn't pay for the sword tenfold.
He pays you 7 platinum (700 gold!) and you drop him. From that height.
And you catch him 5 feet off the ground again, just to scare him.
He throws the sword on the ground and scampers off.
What next?

He tells you that levitation WAS the easiest. He also told you that finding the right magical conduit can help. Apparently, a stoneless amulet wasn't enough to focus your power. Somehow, you have a plethora of magical power, but the stoneless amulet is too pathetic to help you! Maybe you need a stone, like a crystal or something...
Maybe you should check to see if you have anything like that.

You found a book about 1 foot thick on ancient languages. You open it up, but unfortunately, it's in a language that you also don't recognize. Maybe you should look for another book...
