"I had to help your friend first then I will get treated.
"Not it." Amara touched her nose, "I refuse to treat you after what you did to me last time."
"You brought it up," Ruby gave Amara look that said do it or else.
"I wish I had chosen to become an adventurer." Amara muttered before getting bandages to treat Ruby.

Knuckles nodded, only half hearing what was said.

One of Ajal's ears moved slightly like he was trying to listen for trouble.
Ruby and Amara's argument got a bit worse.

Knuckles sighed at the movement, a strange mixture of relief and concern.... Man, how is it even possible to feel that way?

Amara finally won the arguement with a very angry Ruby. Ruby lightly punched Amara on the arm which was still hard enough to bruise.
Ajal's eyes were screwed shut in pain.

After a minute or two of just watching, Knuckles finally looked up at the two she-wolves. "You done?"

"Yes," Ruby growled.
Amara shrunk back and rubbed her arm, "Ow, did you have to hit so hard?"
"Wimp."
Ajal groaned.
Both of the nurses looked at Ajal.
"Is he waking up?" Amara asked.

"....Maybe. His ear twitched earlier." Knuckles shrugged.

Amara and Ruby looked at each other.
"It might just be his training kicking in. My parents are the same way even when they are asleep if anything unfamilar to them is close they are on full alert." Amara explained.
Ruby nodded.

"Yeah, but those sort of instincts wouldn't kick in until he's able to actually pick up on changes, right?"
