Jack seemed fine listening to Ray, gently rubbing their knuckles with a thumb to tell them it was fine. "Go on." He said gently.

"Go on about what exactly? There's a bunch I could talk about. Though half the time I don't know what I'm talking about. The random rambles I go on aren't exactly the easiest things to follow because they're... Well, they're random. Plus, I'm probably scaring all the animals and I'm positive it is much nicer to listen to birds and other creatures than me talk about nothing in particular." Ray says with a shrug.

He shrugged. "Listening to you is my preference though."

"Really? The last person who said something like that died." Ray says, before pausing. "Ok, that sounded really wrong."

Jack fell silent, thinking a moment as to why the person would die.

Ray laughs nervously and pulls away from Jack a tiny bit.

Jack didn't stop them. "What happened to the person?"

"Well, he didn't die because he said that. He got caught later with me and he was used to draw me out of hiding so when I tried to save him they would catch me and punish me according to my crimes, but... They killed him even when I offered to give myself up."

"oh..."

Ray laughs, trying to brush everything off. "Yeah. I'm not exactly the best company to be around." They look away from Jack and scan the surrounding areas, trying to keep their mind off everything.
