Alister replied with, " One, I have met lots of them. Two, I don't do flattery if it isn't true. Finally, if I was lying I would say you are the most gorgeous thing on the planet. "

"That's basically what you said," she said shortly. She let her mind drift and it went to what they were going to do about the motel. She cleared her throat and said in a dead serious tone, "Listen. We'd better share a room. I mean, we'll get two beds, but..." She trailed off, watching him for a reaction

Alister when hearing that literally choked on his food. He seemed to sober up a little hearing that and said, " I would rather sleep on the streets thank you.. I don't like sharing a room with a girl.. they have cooties.. " He said it in a completely serious tone.. but in reality he was joking.
