once they are finished unpacking alex looks at snowfall and pets her and closes his eyes and mutters something and then says "you horse has a fracture on her left back leg that never healed it needs a splint"
[he has that special ability doctor shuan murphy has with all the doctor stuff has except with horses and cows.]

"the tibia is cracked where the tibia meets the calcaneus it'll only get worse as time goes on surgery will need to be performed in order for her not to be in pain the surgery would be quick and easy just a few metal bolts to keep the tibia and calcaneus together and maybe a few metal bars in the tibia to keep it from cracking more."
