Jacqueline was... not surprised, exactly, but rather intruded by Sasha's words. All of a sudden she seemed like someone far older and wiser than she actually was.
"You are special, Sasha," she said. "Many can never hope to be as wise as you or speak as you do."
Why did her words have to sound so insufferably formal? She still hadn't managed to adapt to this era's way of speaking. "Inter ordines de re," she repeated. "Literally, it means 'between the layers of our reality,' but we use it to hide things away. Think of this plane as a piece of fabric. If you were to place something on it then fold in in half, covering the thing that you put there, the fabric would still be the same. It would just have something in it."
She nodded at what Sasha had chosen. "Try. I would appreciate it if you didn't fold me up as well. I've had enough near-death experiences today already, and trust me when I say it's not a pleasant sensation."

Sasha smiled a little bit, if she still had blood.. she'd of been blushing. ( Imagine she was but since she thinks they can't she doesn't realize it- ). " I'm not special.. not at all. I just say what comes to mind. " She said softly before going quite, listening to Jacquelines words. She nodded, seeming intrigued by that. She wondered if she was capable of doing something like that, but decided using magic again after the accident earlier wasn't the best of ideas. She seemed a bit confused about what Jacqueline said, but added, " Sometimes.. I have.. nightmares. I feel the pain I assume I felt at dying.. " She shuttered slightly. " I don't think I want to try using magic again.. I think I might hurt something. I am wondering though, how would it be possible I fold.. you? "
( Seeing the explanation gave me an idea.. what if that is where Jacqueline got trapped upon dead..? Like.. she is still there.. just.. not physically. Just like I said. )

Jacqueline shuddered. "It is possible for spells to go awry and affect something they are not supposed to... for example your fireball. Without enough concentration or control, you can loose your grip on the energy."
She placed one hand palm up and the other above it, then swept her palms across each other and out to either side. As her hands spread apart, she seemed to draw a sword from out of the lower palm, gripping the hilt in her right. Then she brought her hands back together as if she were clapping.
"It's one of the easier skills to master. Still, I have been caught by it before. Imagine suffocating but knowing it cannot kill you, being trapped in total, infinite darkness with invisible things moving around you, no sense of time, not knowing if it has been seconds or minutes or hours or days that you've been trapped. You cannot get out on your own, being forced to wait until someone realizes their mistake. So please, if you're going to fold something, I would appreciate it not being me."

Sasha seemed very frighten at that, she very much didn't want to hurt her.. ever. " I-I promise I won't.. ever. " She said, that knowledge seeming to shake her to her very core. Complete darkness.. suffocating, complete and isolating darkness until someone is able to get you out of it. It scared her.. if that was something she'd be capable of.. she didn't want to ever use that. She'd just carry the weapons around.. it seemed a whole lot safer that way, or at least it did to her.. even if it was kind of silly.

The older Reaper shook her head. "Dear Heron, I managed to frighten you, didn't I? That wasn't what I meant - I intended it as a vaguely humorous story of why you ought to be careful. I'm sorry."
She reached into her pocket and fished around in it - she was carrying this the non-magical way. Jacqueline pulled out a small silver scythe-shaped pendant the size of a quarter and held it out to Sasha. It was almost identical to Jacqueline's, except this one was set with a clear crystal rather than Jacqueline's blood ruby.
"Here," she said. The slim chain pooled in her hand, making the pendant look as though it was sitting in a puddle of liquid silver. "Technically you should not be getting this until you've passed the trials set for you by the Lords, but they agreed to make an exception for you. It will be of great help to you in more ways than one."

She thought she'd see just how badly she was lying about that. She then saw a movement from Jacqueline, and looked back towards her, seeing her reach for a pendant. She saw a few reapers with them, but hadn't a clue what they were for. After listening to her speak she timidly said, " A-are you sure it's okay? If I should be earning this.. it isn't fair if I just get it. " She said, now looking her in the eyes.

I Linked them earlier, so we should be able to communicate through them if need be, like what the Living call.. Walking talkers? Walker-talkers? If either of us touches the other's, they will instantly be transported back here. Useful if we get hurt. They also serve to help amplify our power and warn us of our limits."
Jacqueline drew her own pendant from beneath her jacket collar. The blood ruby seemed to glow from within. "Put it on and we'll be off. It's best not to delay too long."

Sasha nodded and put on the pendent, she was still wary of it but since it was need.. she wouldn't argue it too much. She couldn't help but chuckle a bit at Jacqueline trying to say the correct name of a walkie talkie. Yes.. it wasn't suppose to be funny because she was just that outdated.. but that fact made it all the more worse. " Where should we be looking first? " She asked, seeming a bit curious about how they would be going about this?

Jacqueline sighed. That was just it - she didn't know. Everyone always expected their older mentor to know exactly what needed to be done and how to do it, but now that she was the mentor, she had no clue.
"We'll start by doing a Reaping as usual. We'll see if it happens again, and if we can trace it. After that, I'm not quite sure, but I have a few ideas."
That last part was a complete lie. Jacqueline had no idea what to do, but hopefully Sasha wouldn't see through it.
"Shall we head to the translation chamber?" she asked, referring to the room the Reapers used to transport themselves to earth. Of course, they could do it themselves, but it took a massive drain on their energy. The translation chamber did the work for them and was far more precise with destinations.
