*We could taste one and see if we feel sick, then we know not to eat it.* Ea suggested. *We also need to find water, I have a water skin, but once that runs out, I will need more water.* Ea looked back to the rest of the group, wondering if they had any supplies. Ea walked over to the berries and grabbed a single one, careful to not get any of the juice on her hands. She stuck the berry into her mouth, chewed it, then swallowed it.

Daniel stood by, shocked. "What if it is really poisonous and you die?" He could not believe anyone would be that crazy- to eat a berry that could be poison. It took everything he had to not panic, but one of his hands lit up from stress. Minutes passed and he was only worrying more. How could anyone be that stupid? His mother had told him never to do that- to never eat anything he wasn't sure was safe. And he never had. He kept a wary eye on Ea, in case she keeled over suddenly.

*I will be fine.* Ea stated, then continued moving. *This way, only one of us will get sick, plus, if I die, the people will not be sad, if anyone else died, they would blame me.* Ea knew how it worked, people did not care if Tieflings died, but whenever someone else died, they all assumed it was a Tiefling. Ea looked around, trying to see or hear a stream. It would definitely not be clean, but it was water nonetheless. Plus, Ea had heard that if water was boiled, it would stop it from poisoning the drinker.

Ea didn't keel over, but that didn't stop Daniel from worrying. He heard a trickle of water nearby and went to find it. "I think I hear water!" he said as he walked away. "Do we have any containers? he yelled back after a moment. "There's a good bit of water flowing through here." He went downstream a little, and unwrapped his hand. He winced and put his hand in the water. The cool water was refreshing and he put the bandage in the water too. He gently tried to wash his hand, but it hurt too much to touch it. So he let the water run over it and hoped it was enough.

Ea walked to the little stream, pulling out her water skin, she stuck it into the stream and filled it up. She looked to the rest of the group and speaking. *Fill up any containers you do not wish to store fill with food, this might be the last water source we have in a while.* A few people looked at her suspiciously, but many of them nodded, then pulled out their various containers and filled them up. Before they could drink them, Ea spoke once more. *Be sure not to drink a lot, we do not want to get sick.* Ea remembered the berry she had eaten, then concentrated on feeling something, but she did not feel very bad.

Daniel pulled his hand out of the water, and wrapped it up in the somewhat cleaner bandage. Ea had some good skills that all of them could benefit from. But he'd set himself up as a leader of sorts so the rest of the group wouldn't revolt about being told what to do by a tiefling. "Do as she says!" he said, pulling out his own waterskin. He filled it up a few inches upstream of where he'd washed his hand. The water had all run downstream by now, but he felt safer doing it this way. He kept a sharp eye out for anything that could signal danger, ready to bundle everyone back to the clearing and fight.

Ea grumbled silently to herself. She could take care of herself. The people might not respect her, but she could kill all of them in one fell swoop. A small voice whispered in the back of her mind. Ea silently cursed, the voice had been dormant for a bit, but apparently her thinking had woken it up again. Ea sighed to herself, then felt again for any sign of pain from the berry she had eaten, still nothing.

Daniel finished getting water. He watched as the others finished and drank, then walked over to Ea. "Did the berry do anything?" he asked quietly. The group was milling around, packing up, and he didn't want them to freak out. Someone said, "Oh, look, elderberries. Those'll be good to add to our supplies." Daniel looked over. A woman, on the older side, was examining the bush that they'd found earlier. Daniel walked over. "Are you sure?" She gave him a sharp look. "Of course I'm sure, young man, I've been tending bushes all my life, of course I know what elderberries looks like." He nodded, hoping she was right. They might all die if she wasn't. He handed her a bag. "Then fill 'er up, we'll need them."

Ea walked over to Daniel and looked at the berries he and the lady were fussing about. *Well, coincidentally, these were the berries I ate, so if they are elderberries, they are harmless. But no, I do not feel sick.* Ea stated. Ea sat down next to the brook and started playing with her knife, throwing it up and catching it agin. A slight gurgle could be heard from the creek. Ea looked over.

Daniel watched her throwing her knife and catching it. He'd never been very coordinated, his skills in that area were limited to not tripping on his own feet and being able to get places without falling. The noise from the creek masked much of the conversation between the group, but he still picked up on some snatches. A few people were speculating on how long the food would last, another few were discussing what they'd do at the next Keep, and he heard a word here and there from another small few who seemed to think he was incompetent. He perked up at what he thought was a low growl from across the creek. He looked at Ea. "Did you hear that?"
