well, I thought about it (and it has been suggested several times), but the problem is, the only (most likely) pair that's going to be dyed is the final one, that is 6vis. all the previous cats therefore will have random colors... yep, I'm not using a single essence. it wouldn't be much helpful anyway since two of six traits are restricted in generator.
I don't really want to waste my dyes on unfinished versions of the project. and dying say 3vis3c ones, hoping their offspring will be 6vis, seems like a waste to me. getting 3vis3c will be faster though, but I prefer quality over, um, speed.
however, I'm almost ready to change my mind since people keep telling me about those less visible traits ones. I don't have much experience in breeding (I know the theory and I won't fail, but practice is a little different from forum guides anyway), so I may be missing something.

erm, there's my first project, you can search for "prj1" to see all my pets that are related to it. it is a total mess though. adults are in this and this tabs. I tried to use one essence (an enh one, grr), but I was even more of a stupid derp then, so it didn't help much.

there's also a pair of regenerated and dyed nixis if it counts.

and I've recently traded three amazing Black Cat vulnyx for some LPDs. they're in this tab, along with some offspring from other themes. /though I don't see how is it related to the topic, sorry/

that's actually a good idea, though giving a nixi egg in a vulnyx-related contest seems a little bit out of the topic... but as long as it's not the first prize, I guess it's ok.

maybe by the time when I'll be giving the prizes to the winners, I'll have some nice-looking purebred Vulnyx... hopefully the black cat ones, but I have a caramel corn one and a silent night one (though they are offspring themselves, not the tagged ones), whom I'm breeding too.

I also thought about adding some scale shop items (maybe by the choice of the winner, say any items for some specific amount of scales).

maybe some essences, too. though I'm not sure if it should be vul essences or just random ones.

and, um, how much gold would you suggest to give to the winners? let's say we'll have like 5 awards... and everyone should get some gold. what do you think?
