Confusion was written all over his face. "What?"

Artemis chuckles and says, "All I want is a friend. That is My price. And a friend doesn't need to be a person. They can also be an animal."

"We do not have any pets," he said. Even if he did, he wasn't sure he would be willing to give them up. "Is that all you ever ask for?"

Artemis smiled and says, "Yes that is all I ask for. Some laughs at this answer but for me this is fair. Being alone all the time isn't great even for me. So each time I ask for a friend. Some couldn't do it but others did. Though who did I helped."

"Do you still have all the friends you once had?" He asked, unsure if his question made any sense. "What happened to the ones who couldn't?"

Artemis smiled sadly and says, "The friend I had passed away from old age. The ones couldn't do the price. I guide them back to their kingdom safety but I didn't help them. I told them that they didn't have a time limit to find me a friend, "

"Well...what happens if they say they can, but they change their mind?" He asked. Bradyn wasn't sure if he could be Artemis' friend or not. After all, he had grown up being taught how he should despise them.

Artemis sighs and says, "Well I will still help them but I will tell them that I want a book that tells a legend or myth I don't already have, "

"Oh. Is that what you were reading earlier?" He asked, nodding to the book. He shifted his weight. Where had his sense of urgency gone?

Artemis nods and says, "Yes it was. But it's a not really a legend for me. Since I have lived through it."
