None of the warning lights came on, but then with alarming speed, the vibration got worse, the car jolting back and forth. "Oh, you ancient piece of crap," she muttered. She was about to say something before the car suddenly lurched, slamming forward. She pulled over to the shoulder as the car groaned an shuddered; she made it just before the rear wheels locked up, bringing them to a halt.

Alister sighed a little and while still clutching the pup in his arm, got out of the car to see if he could fix the problem.
