Well, she wasn't trying to. She used the same tone with children. She noticed that Sapphire froze and realized her mistake

This child was different though,literally sorta half animal. She sighed a little sigh and then climbed up into the car,with D's help. D was a little stiff,knowing that Sapphire had been caught off guard by the tone.

D buckled Sapphire up and then closed the door and got into the front passenger seat. It was harder for herself to buckle than Sapphire,but she closed the door.
