Jack was soon off and gone inside the castle. He went to his commanders quarters, hoping he'd be there.

The commander was there, and so was Sam and Ryan because Sam wanted to leave as well. The commander said hi to Jack.

Sam was just leaving. She gives Jack a hug as a goodbye and then leaves. Ryan smiles and says a quick goodbye before heading after his sister.
Which left the commander and Jack in the room.
Ray didn't want to wait any longer. They wanted Jack to come back quicker, but they knew they couldn't make him come back faster. And they couldn't go to Jack because that could be dangerous. So Ray waited patiently, sitting down and resting against a tree as they awaited Jack's arrival.

The commander sighs, wanting to stop Jack from leaving. Jack was a good person to have around and he did his job well unlike some other guards. "Yes.... Of course." The commander reluctantly gives his consent that Jack could resign.
Ray tried not to worry about Jack. They had to remind themself that Jack wasn't in any danger because Jack wasn't in trouble but if Ray went after him, Ray would be in danger so it would just be better for Ray to stay put. Ray rocks back and forth as they wait, unintentionally drawing attention to themself.
