Because one helped him be strong when needed,Puck had helped him pull out of good chances that he would have just gone under coma.And the other,Ash,helped him with wen he had melt downs about his family and was trying to help him get stronger and work with the sword. He was grateful for both their love,for the uplifting love of Puck and the pushing forward,just do it cuz you've got it,love from Ash.He didn't care if they didn't know that's how it felt to him,it just did.
