Micah nodded and ran faster, getting ready to swing the sword. "Don't you dare try to fly," he called over his shoulder to Ray.

Ray laughs sadly, wanting to tell him that the reminder had been a bit late. The Nimmt stops suddenly and turns around, reaching their long fingers out to Micah, wanting to ensnare him and claim him as their own. Seemingly endless swirling pools of red were its eyes which sat like rubies against it's dark stormy form, a flickering smile with teeth bared flashing brightly. The devilish creature cackles.

Micah stopped so suddenly that he almost fell forward before quickly backing away, breathing heavily.

Ray caught up and continued towards the Nimmt, turning his dagger into a spear and using it to jump over, turning and attempts to knock it off it's feet. However, he usually used his wings to balance himself out when landing, and without the use of them, he landed a bit awkwardly. Ray recovered quickly, using his position of being away from the Nimmts prying hands to attack. The Nimmt yelps and runs towards Micah, which makes Ray curse under his breath. Stupid Nimmt. It should have turned and fought him not charged Micah.

Micah slashed at the Nimmt, quickly deciding that there was no way he'd let Ray endanger himself.

The Nimmt grabs the sword, and it slowly dissolved into dust. The Nimmt hums gleefully as its finger nails grow sharper. "Nice shiny." It murmurs, deciding it could take more swords and it would be unstoppable. It then smiles and tries to get Micah, long fingers reaching for him.
Ray shrinks his spear back down to a dagger and stabs it through the Nimmts. The Nimmt squeals, trying to escape before dissolving itself into dust. "You ok?" Ray asks Micah, noting that he didn't have his sword and was afraid the Nimmt had taken something else. The scary beings could steal more than just physical things. They could steal hope, courage, and more.

Micah stared at nothing in particular, looking horrified, then grabbed Ray and yanked him into a hug. "I-I'm fine, but who cares!? Are you alright!?"

Ray yelps, turning the point of his dagger so he doesn't cut Micah. "I... Yes, I'm fine. I'm glad you're ok." He returns the hug after sending the dagger back.

Micah hugged him tighter, before letting go so he didn't hurt Ray. His eyes had a glassy look, and he was shaking- the Nimmt had clearly scared him much more than he was letting on.

Ray understood something of what Micah was feeling since he also had had to have met a Nimmt for the first time before. He shudders as he remembers that and quickly pushes the experience from his head.
"You're safe now. I won't let anything happen to you." Ray says as he gives Micah a hug before letting him go as well, wanting to be able to do more than try and comfort through words though not quite sure how.
