She leads the first girl, dressed in red with a poppy flower in her braided ponytail, over to the water. She gently, lightly nudges the girl into the water.

Almost immediately, the girl tenses as if shes been struck, and she goes limp. The original lorelei stays calm, but the other girls (understandably) get worried.

The bubbles from the girls breaths only last a few moments; then theyre gone. For a long minute, she remains limp and still, as if dead. Then, with a sudden, abrupt flick, a fishy tail shoots outwards, splashing out of the water. Its red, just like her dress, and has a sort of koi mottle pattern to it. A few short moments later her legs shrink and vanish, and small slits that will likely soon be gills have appeared on her neck.




One by one, each of the other girls goes through the same process- seeming to drown in the water, which is apparently very cold according to the girl who was in yellow, and then rapidly becoming fishy.

The result is 13 new lorelei. Though all their tails grow to be longer, none of their tails are 10 times their bodys lengths like the original womans.

None of them have hollows for eyes like the original one does. But, seeing how their eyes are already becoming sunken and how theyre squinting as if its hard to see, they eventually will.

huh again.

Their facial structure has visibly changed too. Theyre getting more gaunt, but at the same time more beautiful.

huh.

Its definitely interesting to see happen. Though its not as visible, they also already just seem happier. As if something about becoming a lorelei entails less depression, or more happiness, or something similar to that.
