Casey flinched at the screaming, automatically pulling Illis into him. He didn't like the sound, but he didn't want Illis to panic either. He squeezed his eyes shut until the annoying noise stopped shaking the ground.
He let out a breath he didn't know he was holding. The brunette leaned back, checking on the little girl. "Now, that was loud, huh?", He asked, trying to keep an upbeat mood.

Alyx shudders at the loud sound and puts his hands over his ears. They look towards the beast and then down towards the cracked earth in a mixture of shock and awe. He takes a step back and then another step closer to Illis and Casey.
Kanoa is easily annoyed by the ringing in his ears after the loud screech. He continued his search for a weapon. Perhaps a stick or a few stones. A weapon he knew how to use would be nice. He didnt know what would work best with this beast.

Illis shrieked as Casey pulled her close to him and the ground shook, they could still hear the creature's roar but less so but it made her disoriented, and her ears started to ring. She nodded their head at Casey and said, "Yeah it was."

Mouse clutched her ears slightly pointed ears, doing her best to keep her footing as the ground shook beneath them. Wait. Her ears were pointy?! That must mean she's half elf like in some of the books she read! If their situation wasn't so pressing, Mouse would have been more fascinated by what's happed to them, but right now there was a job to do.

"Normally, I'd agree with you. But I don't think that will work this time. We need to work together and bring it down!" She replied to the fox like creature that had spoken to her.

"Perhaps some of us could distract it while others attack," Mouse added glancing around for possible weapons and cover.

Illya nods once as the sound rings in her ears. Whatever got this creature to leave them alone at this point she would be willing.
"So whose distracting this creature," She asks.

Casey looked a bit taken aback. "You really think it's safe to actually fight that thing? We don't have any armor or weapons- There's even a kid who could get caught in the crossfire.", He interjected, he didn't have a better plan, but it would be better than putting everyone else in danger.

Darius runs over, barely taller than anyone's knee, and says, "Yes, running is a good idea. We're unarmed. We have no chance."
His voice was a bit raspy and fairly high, and his wings kept shifting on his back, like he couldn't get them comfortable.

Returning her gaze to the group, her expression softened as Mouse smiled just a fraction to the young child. Her attention moved back to the creature as she continued, "There's no such thing as a 'safe' fight. The trees are too far away to run to and diplomacy didn't work either. So now we fight. Fists, legs, claws, teeth, brains and working together. Those are our weapons. If it strikes at you, duck, dodge, roll or block it. I promise this is not my first choice either, but I don't want anyone to be that things dinner either."

How the heck did this happen? Mouse wondered to herself. No one had ever wanted to listen to her with her old gang. That was why she took off, she knew the job they were planning... Never mind for now. Mouse though back to the kid and felt a pang of empathy for her. The little one was probably going to have to learn some difficult lessons soon, but that didn't mean she had to learn them right away. "I can't speak for the others. However I'll do what I can to help protect her, but we need all hands on deck... sorry I don't know your names."

Mouse was glad they seemed to be listening, even if it was because no one else had anything better. She just wasn't use to it was all. To the child she said, "Do your best to stay away from the monster. If it tries to go after you, yell to get our attention and run to one of us. Oh, my name's Mouse by the way. Do you think you can do what I ask?" To the others she said, "If no one has any objections, I'll play bait. Once I have it focused on me attack from behind. Try to tie it up with that rope some how if you can. Once it notices you guys have attacked, I will jump in as well to help secure it."

Parts of the ground begin to cave in, elongating the cracks further around the hill, the beast seems unfazed, uncaring, and simply ignores the beings as the ground dissolves beneath.. this shouldn't be possible, should it? Such destructive aftermath of such a... weak thing? The grounds movement finally slows and comes to a near stop, but the monster looks like it's preparing to repeat itself.

Darius yelped as the ground fell away, backpedaling rapidly and throwing his wings out to try to take off.
