About the Alien Race
The Helyans are a very war-oriented society. Their people usually are taller than most other races, standing seven to nine feet tall, towering over others. They tend to have dark hair and pale skin, as well as striking features and pointed, elfin ears. One of their powers it to use magic.To control the type of raw power the Helyans are born with, it is easiest to shape in in a song, but true masters can simply use magic without having to think about it. Therefore, the appearance of Helyans is many and varied, each singing their bodies into a form that they find most pleasing. No matter the form, however, Helyans always have horns of some sort on their head.
Their society rotates around war. They are constantly fighting with their neighbours, and challenges are common. A female Helyan - the members of this race are alway referred to as male and female, not man/woman/boy/girl - will refuse to consider a mate before he has beaten three challengers, the race of which matters little. From a very houng age - indeed, before they are even taught to speak or walk, Helyans learn how to fight and use their magic. They are regarded as one of the mkost dangerous races, if not the most dangerous, in the galaxy, and often hire themselves out as infallible assassins and mercenaries.
Helyans have their own unique culture and religion, which is forbidden to be shared with an outsider. However, most know that a Helyan toughing the tips of their horns is a gesture to ward off evil, a good deal of their rituals involve bloody sacrifices, and touching another's horns is a great infult to their honor and is challenging them to a duel. Another custom, which is, again, forbidden to speak of and is not one of the aforementioned known Helyan rituals, is that every Helyan has a spear, called a sulde, which has tokens from defeated enemies tied to it. The more trophies you have on your sulde, the more standing you have in your clan. When you die, you are buried on a mountain-side and your spear is planted in the frozen ground above where you lay. One of these burial grounds is called a nazg-fell, and is a haunting, eerie sight. Helyan legend says that if one goes to a nazg-fell on a moonless night, the wind blowing through the tokens of defeated enemies on the suldes will sound like haunted calls of the spririts.
Helyans live in small clans led by warlords scattered throughout their mountainous planet. Their villages are unique amoung other race's. They have huge totem poles carved with terrifying faces to keep away evil spirits. Outside each hut hangs a long banner, sometimes dozens of feet, woven in their language with the entire history of their family. Blood is very important, and certian familes tend to produce great Helyans more often than others.

Islanzadi is sharp and quick to anger, with rather unrefined manners. She is a bit of an introvert, preferring to be in her own company out in the woods. Battle is in her blood - fighting brings her a fierce joy unlike anything else. In her village, she was one of the best young warriors, despite being female.
Often acting sassy and sarcastic, it is easy to get Islanzadi mad, but she'll calm down relatively quickly. She never forgets a grudge, sometimes holding onto them long after they have passed from the memories of others. She also will always keep an oath, as well as holding you to yours, even if she does lie sometimes.
Backstory
Like all Helyans, Islanzadi was trained to fight from the moment she could hold a blade. She grew quickly, first mastering her battle skills and becoming one of the best warriors of her age in her village.
When she turned 30 (about 12 for you humans), she took her rite of passage, called in the Helyan language the Oronti Firima, which translates to Blood Passage, at the youngest age heard of, being thrown into the frozen mountains, unarmed and without supplies, and being expected to fight their way back to the village. It may sound easy, but it isn't - only about 2 out of every 5 Helyans return alive. She quickly became a sought-after female for the young males in her village, but Islanzadi turned them all down. She made them an offer - if they could beat her in single combat, she would become their mate. After an entire year, her offer still stands. After her Oronti Firima, she began working on her skills with magic, and sang herself into the form she has today.
