She and Hailey used to be friends, but as Hailey grew more popular, she stayed unpopular. So now Hailey basically hates her guts.

(Imma gonna jump right in)
Maxine got up and got ready for school, she was going to be the new girl, she went downstairs and ate some cereal, "Can I please ride Lightning to school mom?" I asked, my mom, sighed and said, "All right, but don't complain to me if he trots away." she said, I nod with a smile, I head outside where the stables were, Lightning whinnied with delight at seeing me, "Hey Lightning." I said cheerfully. I had gotten everything ready and I had saddled up Lightning, I got up on him and rode him to school, people saw me, I was wearing the usual cowpoke clothing.

I rode by a guy who spat on the ground, Lightning stopped and reared up, "Whoa! Lightning, it's ok, it's ok." I said soothingly, trying to calm Lightning.

Lightning quivered, "It's all right, Lightning just isn't used to being in the city, neither am I." Maxine said softly, Lightning had calmed down and looked at Owen, Lightning moved his head over to him as if saying hello, Maxine smiled.
