It sniffs your hand, smelling you are no harm, it lets you help it.

I try to pick it up, keeping my cat close just in case it would attack.

The thorn pops out, and you can see it was no thorn, it was a snake fang. Luckily it wasn't a poisonous snake fang. It trusts you.

It lets you pick it up, it cuddles into your arms.

I gently pet it, then stand up and signal it to follow me before I go look for shelter.

It follows you with a 'Hiip'. You come across a small wooden shed with a few mice inside, your hyena seems to want to hunt them.

What do you do now?
