Personality:
Karter, at first glance, is a quiet yet defiant kid. He hates authority and has a habit of lashing out at adults. In truth, yes, he's not a fan of the "man" but he's great with younger kids and is fiercely loyal to his peers. He has a tit-for-tat lifestyle, he'll always live up to his promises and will never trust someone again for not living up to theirs. Karter can also be brutally honest, finding it hard to sugarcoat things, even for the sake of others. He always has good intentions, despite his crude ways of going about it.

Backstory:
He was born to an extremely Catholic family of seven (four older siblings) in a small town in Ohio as Brianna Stevens. From a young age, he was a "tomboy" to his parent's dismay. Around the age of thirteen, he realized what he had been experiencing throughout his life. When he worked up enough courage two years later to come out, the conversation went down terribly. Though he was allowed to stay in the house, he was on thin ice and his parents doubled down on him doing anything. Over time he became even more defiant than usual, when he was caught skipping school his parents called it the "final straw" and he was sent to Victoria castle.

Why they're getting sent:
He became defiant and his parents decided to send him away. He has also gotten in several fights with other students at his school.

Personality:
Maria is a genuinely rather chilled-out person, she rarely talks but when you get her going, she's kind of hard to stop. She never gets into fights, but she prefers to watch, just in case she needs to finish them. She is one of the meanest and funniest people you'll ever meet. She usually doesn't take most people seriously at first, but the second she likes you, she'll sit down and listen to everything you have to say. Maria is also really good at getting out of trouble, so be it by talking or force. She does have a habit of being stubborn enough to give even the most persuasive person a hard time changing their mind. (That also means they don't plan on quitting smoking for a long time.) She often tries to keep others out of trouble though.

Backstory:
Maria is a military brat, until the age of fourteen she was uprooted from a home every couple months or so to move to a new state, giving her a very hard time at making and keeping friends. She eventually turned to sneaking cigarettes from their dad's room to cope. When they and their dad finally settled in Seattle Washington, Maria came out to their dad as both agender and lesbian (which he took really well). She tried really hard to stop smoking for years, but eventually, she was caught by her dad. He felt like he failed them as a parent and offered to send her to Victoria Castle, hearing it would help, she begrudgingly accepted not wanting to put too much stress on him. They still keep in close contact.

Why they're getting sent:
Caught with cigarettes and their father offered Victoria Castle as a solution.
