About an hour later a rat walked in, "Dog come."
Kai growled at him.
He thumped the stick against the floor.
Kai cowarded near Kaladin.
"See she is my dog." The rat smirked.
"She dislikes you and she won't go to you so she isn't yours." Selkie protested.

"Not only that, but she's clearly been neglected." Kaladin added pointedly, tapping a claw on the table.

"She is a trained guard dog so she eats when she catches a thief."
"So you are a smuggler." Selkie growled.
The smuggler turned his attetion to Selkie he looked stunned and a little scared.
Selkie's eyes flashed dark blue, "How about e let the dog chose who she want to go with?"
The smuggler barked a laugh, "Here I thought I was dealing with an otter but in truth you are weasel. What a funny idea."
"Kaladin are you willing," Selkie asked.
"What?"
"If the dog walks to you it proves it is your's if not and it goes to my friend it is his." Selkie's eyes flashed a challenge.
"Agreed."

Kaladin stood up. "Be it. But drop the rod." He told the smuggler, backing up to the other side of the room.

"No food then you cannot bait the wolfdog." The smuggler laid the rod against a wall.

Selkie backed away as well.

Kaladin shrugged. "Very well." He agreed, holding out his hands to show he wasn't holding anything. "Not that I planned to." He added.

The smuggler nodded, "Come dog."
Kai sat where she was.
"I said come dog." The lightly grabbed the stick and hit it on the floor again. Kai turn toward him growling her ears pinned against her head.
"That is a guard dog, now come." The smuggler smirked.
Kai went to him just not in the way he hoped. She bared her teeth and went for his throat. The smuggler bearly raised the stick in time to keep her jaws in between the stick and not his throat. Kai used the spin move again and threw the smuggler into the trash heap then tore the stick to splinters. After she was done she walked calmly over to Kaladin looking like a perfect angel.
Selkie blinked.

Kaladin smirked and pet Kai. He looked up at the smuggler. "I did tell you to drop the rod." He said pointedly.

Kai snuggled up to him.
"Well now you have to convince Skipper to let her on the ship." Selkie eyes Kai wearily.
The smuggler shot a look at them.
"He will be back with a vengance." Selkie muttered.

Kaladin shrugged. "I'm not concerned." He said. "Besides, he lets Locke on the ship, and he's a dog as well." He added with a small smile.
