Jack gently put a hand on Ray's shoulder, away from the wound, and seemed to hold his breath a little as he pushed the needle in.

Ray bites their lip and tries not to move. They hum a tune quietly and tap their foot to the beat.

Jack shows no response to their humming, just focuses on stitching the muscle and skin together that had been torn. After every section, he'd use a little puffy wad of fabric to clean up the blood that would come.

Ray was doing their best to follow Jack's directions of not moving, but sometimes they'd flinch or simply fail to remember to not move. Each time they did so, they'd apologize and fall still again for a few moments longer. They also remembered to thank Jack when he was done.

He said nothing still the whole time, tying and cutting the end with his teeth once he'd finished. He cleaned it up and put some herbs to keep it from getting infected.

Ray thanked Jack again, giving him a grateful hug. They then tried to get up to see if they could limp over to help Jack's mother in the kitchen.

Jack very gingerly tried to sit Ray back down. "Stay put, let me see your leg." His voice was soft but there was something under it.

Ray didn't really want to sit back down but they weren't quite sure what was under the soft voice, so they decided to obey and sat back down.

Jack knelt down and asked wich one hurt Ray.

Ray gestures silently to the one that was hurt. They had only asked Jack to help them with their arm, not their foot, but if Jack was going to help, Ray might as well accept it.
