Jora shook her head. She looked straight ahead at the front of the classroom. She didn't know if he was lying or not. It was hard for her to tell.

Master Alexander raised one of his large eyebrows at Orion. "And what might have happened last night, Young Orion?" He asked wondering a little.

Alderic let out a breath then smiled, fist-pumping. "There one step down, now to just make you laugh..." He said crossing his arms putting his hand on his chin.

"Jora please, I'm not lying! I promise!" He practically yelled very earnestly. He turned to the teacher. "With all due respect, it's Jora's decision whether or not to tell you " he said in a calmer voice.

Ember smiled again. She liked this have-if that was what it was. Even if he probably wouldn't make her laugh, he was cheering her up a bit.

Master Alexander smiled a little at the boy. "No need to yell, The young maiden can hear you." He said with a smaller smile. "I must excuse myself from your presence, I must get back to getting today's lesson ready.." He said turning back to the front thinking he would allow them to talk a little more privately seeing as it seemed to be a slightly sensitive subject.

Jora shook her head at Orion. "Quit trying to be so nice. I don't deserve it. I'm nothing." She said, quietly rubbing her arms a little with her hand.

Aderic smiled back still thinking. "Maybe we should pull a prank on A'ine... She seems like she'd bee a good sport about it." He said looking at Ember to see if it was the wrong thing to say or not.

"That's not true! You're not nothing! Just cause those idiotic kids said that it doesn't mean it's true!" Orion said, more quietly than last time. "Your certainly not nothing to A'ine, or Ember or Alderic or me. We all really care about you. I'm not trying to be nice here," Iron said, going she would believe him.

"What sort?" Ember asked warily. She wasn't going to rule out the idea completely, but she didn't like it all that much do far.

Jora shook her head. She didn't say anything. She hoped Orion would just drop pretend that she really was something. She crossed her arms looking out the window. She sighed when she saw a small bird flying gracefully. She put her arms on her desk and put her chin on top of them.

Alderic shrugged. "Maybe putting some salt in her orange juice would be funny to everyone." He said his eyes twinkling. "No one gets hurt and she likes everyone and doesn't get mad too easily. Perfect for a prank!"

"Stop being so hard on yourself! We're not those village kids, you know that right?" Orion said softly. "We could prove it to you, if you need us to," he said, not sure how they would.

"I dunno," Ember said. She didn't really want to prank A"ine just because Alderic was trying to cheer her up. She sighed, wishing she could be a more interesting person to talk to.

Jora turned her head to look out the window keeping it on her desk the whole time. "But what if you guys decide that I'm just..." She sighed and closed her eyes. "A mutt?" She whispered.

Alderic sighed. "Fine. I'll see if she's cool with it then wait for her guard to go down." He said with a smile his voice sounding almost like a laugh. "Well, there's your classroom. Now time to go find mine." He said winking at her as he went back down the hall.

Orion poked her lightly on the arm. "We won't. Promise!" he said, flashing her a smile. "Besides, we already know you're not 'just a mutt' So don't worry, 'kay?" Orion added. He kept smiling, waiting for her to turn so she could see he meant it.

"Wait!" she called after him. "I bet you five marshmallows you can't make me laugh by the end of the day!" she said, as loudly as she dared.

Jora sighed and shook her head. She wanted to believe that it was possible. However, even if it was, they'd still figure out she was just a mutt. She picked at her sleeves with her fingers seeing a little of the charred part. She started tapping her foot a little trying to think of anything else beside last night but couldn't.

Alderic walked backwards and yelled back to her not caring who heard. "Well, that's some motivation!" He waved as he turned around to continue to where he thought his class was.

Orion poked her again. "Why do you think we'd think you're just a mutt? Because they don't. I think Ember an A'ine actually admire you," Orion said.

Ember smiled slightly and went into the classroom, determined to win the bet.
