Jack didn't show it, but he was concerned. He didn't think Ray could've gotten out due to the toxin, and so he knew the last one left was Ray most likely.

The commander leaves with the guard. Sam hops to her feet and races after them, pausing a moment so she could stay next to Jack. "We have to see if Ray's alright." She says to Jack, urging him to go faster.

Jack nodded, rushing to catch up with Sam.

Sam follows the guard and the commander. They soon come to find a rather bloody scene. Ray was standing triumphantly over two fallen guards, the daggers in his hands covered in the blood of the guards that had been holding him as they waited for back up. One guard had been stabbed through, the others neck was sliced open. Ray turns to the commander and the guard when he hears them, freezing like a deer in headlights before dashing off, leaving the daggers. He seemed to be completely fine except for the fact that he had just killed two people. Sam pales at the sight of the dead guards, backing up and hiding behind Jack.

jack clearly was shocked, that being the only thing showing in his expression. 'What... but...' He was so confused, why would Ray do that?!

Sam was trying to get the image of Ray and the two dead guards out of her head. She felt scared and startled and betrayed for whatever reason.
The commander turns to Jack and simply gestures to the dead guards, his message clear. Once a killer, always a killer. Ray wouldn't change. He then walked away, heading to tell the others to double up security.

Ray climbs a tree when he felt he was far enough away. Trees were a lot nicer than people. They didn't hurt you or throw word bombs at you. They, instead, gave you shelter, a safe place to rest, a haven of a sort.
People saw what they wanted to and usually didn't bother for an explanation of why, so Ray was expecting Jack to hate him now. Jack wouldn't know it had been in self defense. Ray climbs a tiny bit higher in the tree and then settles on a sturdy branch. He sighs and wishes he had never agreed to set one of the prisoners free if they gave him what he needed.
Ray had gotten the antidote for the toxin in the dart by the prisoner, and so in return Ray had stolen the keys of a guard, set himself free and then helped the other person free. The prisoner wasted no time in stabbing Ray in the back - figuratively but almost literally as well. Ray had been beaten senseless and came to his senses with the guards, one being Elias the other two being another Ray didn't know, surrounding him. There was the exchange of few words, one guard left to tell the commander, and Ray found himself almost beheaded so he borrowed the daggers at Elias' side and slew the guard with them. The other guard tried to finish what Elias started, but Ray had cut them off quickly. But that was perhaps a story nobody would know.
Ray sighs and watches the world around him, feeling very alone and, though he hated to admit it, scared.

Jack felt what ever had begun to form in feelings for Ray in his chest shatter and die. He clenched his fists a moment before calming and pulling Sam close to comfort her.

Sam shakes her head, "You know what? I think I don't want to be guard. My brother can do it, but me? No thanks. I've changed my mind."

Jack sighed. "It is your choice." He said. "I will not ask you to choose either way."

"Then I hope my brother understands when I back out." Sam says, wrapping her arms tightly around Jack. "Can we go now?"
