I cautiously try and get to the other side, still trying to get Kasai and the fox to stay on the other side until I positively know that it is safe.

I gently say, but loud enough so he can most likely hear me " Stay on the other side until I know It is alright to get across, little guy. To Kasai, looking towards the way I have to walk.

I grit my teeth, and try to keep calm as I continue, picking up the pace a small bit, hoping there are sturdier trees on the other side.
