You notice a large tree ahead of you, far larger than any of the others. The rest of the trees are at least twenty paces away from it. Bright red vines curl around the trunk, and creep along the ground around it like veins.

Latif warily steps closer to the tree, uncertain if she even should get closer. She couldn't help but get the feeling that if she ventured beyond the ring, it would attack her with the vines. Latif stops at the edge of the ring, peering forward with a frown.

(Forgive me if I seem able to predict what happens next. I have a good retention of memory and more importantly am both a gamer and a bookworm. I am very familiar with being suspicious of everything.)

As you watch, the vine closest to you shifts slightly. A pulse of what seems to be electricity travels from it through the rest of the vines, but none of them move.

((Don't worry, I'm the same))

Latif stared at it for several minutes, silently daring it to move again, to give her an excuse to run in another direction. When nothing happened, she took two steps into the clearing, equally silently cursing her own curiosity. Why did she always want to go for it, it mostly tends to backfire...

Nothing happens. The vines are still & electricity free.

(Oh, fiiine... )
Latif nerves herself, drawing up whatever craziness had enabled her to get this far, and then walked over to the large tree, stopping just out of lean-forward-and-stretch-to-touch range.

You realize that one of your feet is accidentally touching a vine. It sparks with electricity, but doesn't spread.

Latif just let out a resigned sigh. "I'm going to regret this if I'm alive afterwards," she muttered lowly. With a deep breath, she knelt and placed a hand fully onto the vine. She figured this was marginally safer than touching the tree. ...Maybe.

A jolt runs up your arm, and the next thing you know, you're not in the clearing anymore. You're in what looks like a large throne room, with smudged tapestries on the wall and a rich red carpet leading to an empty throne. You can see people, but their faces are blurred beyond recognition.

And then you're back in the clearing, sprawled on the ground.

Latif shot upwards with a huge gap, and then immediately started to cough from the amount if oxygen she had sucked in. While bringing her breathing back under control, her mind practically flew, examining every detail she could wring from that single image. "What is going on here?" She muttered out loud, standing up. If this was from touching one vine... then the only way to find out more was to touch the tree.

Nerving herself once more, she boldly strode forward and placed both hands on the tree before she could talk herself out of it.

(Let me know if that is not the right thing to do, please. I'm rather unfamiliar with this type of roleplay)
