Val narrowed her eyes, "I'm not gonna go anywhere with you." she growled, she tugged on Holt's wrist, "Come on!" she yelled zipping off, she was going pretty fast and she was more or less dragging Holt behind her.

Shadow sighed. Once they were out of eye shot, His Chaos Emerald pulsed.

You scared them. A voice spoke clearly in his mind.
"I noticed," Shadow growled back.
Should I go after them since you'll only scare them more?
"No, they can't know you're dead. Not yet, anyway,"
I'm pretty sure the wolf said he was scarred of ghosts.
"So?"
How are we gonna break it to them?
"Worry about that later,"
Well, they're gettin' away, so... are you gonna go or am I gonna have to do it in my tangible form?
"Stay hidden. I'm going,"
Okay, you big emo.
"You're worse then Sonic sometimes, you know that?"
I do. And don't compare me to him.

When they were several yards away Val went into an alley, she was panting hard, "Think we lost him?" she asked shakily.

"Maybe..." Holt said, peeking out of the allyway. "I think so..."

Just then, a flash of light erupted in between the duo. When it cleared, the hedgehog was standing right there. "You'll find," He stated. "I'm persistant. I don't want to fight, but I will resort to force if I need to,"

The Chaos Emerald pulsed again. Better then nothing...
"Stay outta this," Shadow hissed.

Val yelped in surprise, her claws popped out, "Leave us alone!" she snarled, she was ready to defend herself Holt.

A long, tired sigh echoed through Shadow's head.

Shadow sighed as well. "Look," He said. "I do not wish to fight you. It's strange working for..."

Don't use my title, don't use my name, don't use my nicknames. The voice cautioned.

"...a spirit. But he know's what he's talking about, so I need you to come with me," Shadow finished.

Val glared at the hedgehog, "I don't care, living on the streets is hard enough!" she snapped.

"You won't have to live on tbe streets for the time being, if you come with me," Shadow said, loosing patiance. Holt flattened his ears and glanced at Val, uneasy.

Val bared her fangs, "Leave me alone or your gonna regret it." she growled backing away slowly.

The voice sighed once more. If you must mention me, call me... uh... call me Ghost. Keep it simple.

Shadow nodded once. "Look. Eggman may be gone, but that doesn't mean the planet is safe. That spirit I mentioned, Ghost... He knows something's coming. We don't know what yet, but we need help to stop it once it does arrive. Ghost thinks you two are suitable for this task,"

Holt quivered slightly at the mention of Ghost, but... He sounds sincere.

"We'd do it ourselves, but Ghost can't help the way he used to," Shadow added.

Well, that's debateable. Ghost muttered.
