Selene got up, opening the back of the minivan and revealing a stash of canned foods and cured meats. There was a little campfire stove sitting in the middle. She took a pot down from a shelf, filling it with water from a jug and placing it on the stove. She lit the stove and plopped a few slices of salt-encrusted meat in it.
You hungry?

"yes." Molly admitted. "Thank you for being nice to me" Then hoping it didn't sound like a stupid question she asked, "What is school?"

Its a place kids go to learn. I dont know too much, because Ive never been there. They said I didnt qualify because Im not a human, so I had to homeschool me and my sister.
Selene watched as the pot began to boil and pulled a kitchen timer out from within the cluttered shelves, setting it to 20 minutes.
Where did you learn magic, anyways?

"I don't have magic I don't think. Do I have magic? I don't know but if I do no one taught it to me because every always says, 'teaching you is a waste of time' so I never was taught anything. Although I'm really smart." Molly said.

That you are, kid. But some people are just naturally born with magic, and discover them even without training, like you.
Selene replied. The kitchen timer rang, and she pulled the meat out of the pot to set it on two aluminum lunch trays. She handed Molly one.
Here you go. I have an open bag of chips too if you want those.

"Thank you so much! I'll figure out how to hunt as soon as I can! I don't want the chips by the way. And your super nice!" Molly said.
Her words had been a a bit jumbled as she began eating but it was clear enough what she had said.

Youre welcome. Itll be sunset soon, so we need to hide. Do you want to see my den?
Selene said with her mouth full.

Yes please!
Molly said after eating the rest of her food.

Selene looked at the setting sun for a moment before shoving the rest of her food in her mouth and getting up.
Come on, follow me.
She got down on all fours and wormed into the hole that was previously covered by the van. It was a whole lot bigger on the inside, not enough to stand up in, but enough for about three people to stretch out comfortably. There were books stacked in one corner, a gun sunken into the dirt wall, and medical supplies in another corner. In the left corner furthest from the entrance was a pile of soft things of all shapes and sizes, including blankets, towels, feathers, fur, stuffed animals, and clothes.

Molly spotted a stuffed animal that looked much like Mr. duck. She wrapped her arms around it burying her face in it. "Ducky." She whispered gently.
She loved her duck very much. so this duck just made her feel as though her duck had traveled all that way just to make sure it could see her again before she left once more.

she screamed. She didn't think anyone knew about her duck.
